What is a Redemption Group?

Redemption Groups are an intense short-term small group ministry that focuses on the power of the gospel to continually transform the believer’s heart. Our goal is to help believers appreciate the reality of God’s great rescue of their lives from slavery to sin, realize the costly ransom of the life of Jesus as payment for our sins, and to cooperate with the powerful presence of the Holy Spirit who is renewing our lives from the effects of sin. We feel that participation in the Redemption Group Ministry will benefit a wide spectrum of people…

  • Who battle with a stubborn addiction
  • Who feel crippled by shame
  • Who struggle with anxiety, anger, or depression
  • Who live in a world where the persistent presence of ordinary sin leads to lives characterized by confusion, discontent, disconnect and boredom

In other words, we believe that every Christian will find benefit, help and encouragement in their walk with Jesus from participating in the Redemption Group Ministry.

Speaking the Truth in Love

Each week we gather together for a teaching time that comes from the themes of the Redemption book about God’s deliverance of the nation of Israel from their slavery in Egypt and their journey of renewal back to God’s promised land. We flesh out the redemptive truths from their story in order to grasp the redemption God has provided for us in our struggle against sin.

After each teaching session we separate into gender specific groups, together with trained Redemption Group leaders to sift through and discuss the biblical passages and implications for your own personal life. Every closed group participant will have the opportunity to share their own personal story, and with the help of your group members and leaders, to examine their story in light of the biblical truths regarding our redemption in Jesus.

These small groups are designed to encourage and exhort participants to replace lies with truth, religion with repentance, and idolatry with the worship of the one true God. By the grace of God, these ingredients will lead individuals toward the ongoing transformation of their lives to the praise of the glory of God.

Gospel Centered – Not Issue Specific

Redemption Groups are not support groups, nor do they provide professional counseling or therapy. Rather, they rely on the intervention of a real and living God by the power of the redemption that has already been accomplished in Jesus. We believe Jesus is our only hope for substantial healing and deliverance from every manner of sin. Therefore, we do not offer issue specific groups because we believe that when the gospel is applied in the power of the Spirit with compassion, courage and thoughtfulness our diverse experiences can help us to relate with others struggling with very different issues.

Three Tracks – One Ministry

There are three tracks available for participating in the Redemption Group Ministry.

  • General Track: Commitment Level – LOW
Anyone that is interested in hearing our content is invited to come and sit in our teaching sessions that kick off each Redemption Group Night. You’re welcome to purchase a Redemption book from our campus bookstore and read along with us but this is not a requirement.
  • Closed Group Track: Commitment Level – HIGH
If you elect to apply and are invited to participate in a closed group, you are required to attend all teaching sessions, complete all readings and projects, and participate in your assigned closed group which meets weekly immediately following the lecture. Groups are gender specific with six participants, two Leaders, and one Redemption Group Apprentice Leader.
  • Leader Track: Commitment Level – HIGHEST
If you feel called of God to become involved as a leader in the Redemption Group Ministry, you must first complete the closed group track as a regular participant. Upon completion you are invited to make application to the Redemption Group Ministry to become an Apprentice Leader. If you are accepted, you’ll be welcomed to participate in a future Redemption Group quarter under the supervision of experienced leaders who will help disciple you through your apprenticeship. Every Apprentice is assigned a reading list, will be required to sit in all leaders meetings and by the end of the quarter will be sharing the leadership responsibilities with one of the leaders in your group.

Details

Each quarter begins with a mandatory Friday night and an all-day Saturday intensive. The following week we start meeting for eight consecutive Sunday afternoons.

  • 2-Day Intensive
    Friday………..(4/13) 6:15PM – 9:15 PM

How to Sign Up For Redemption Groups

  • Sign up on the Redemption Group waiting list for a closed group (Track 2 or 3) and you will automatically receive a confirmation email that your name has been placed on the wait-list.
  • Join the Sammamish Redemption Group Information group on The City where important news and information about Redemption Groups is posted. (Tracks 1, 2 and 3)

Note: We believe it’s helpful for husbands and wives to grow together in these truths and so we strongly recommend that you apply for a quarter where you can both attend. At the very least, the non-attending spouse should be reading through the Redemption book so that you can have meaningful and informed dialogue. Husbands and wives must apply separately!
